Priceless in Paris.

Mastercard & Octagon, with FutureLabs · Player of the Match Soundtrack Trophy · Rugby World Cup 2023, France
The Mastercard Soundtrack Trophy for Rugby World Cup 2023
The brief, made real

The third and most ambitious Mastercard Player of the Match trophy yet. Created with Octagon and FutureLabs. In 2019 we laser-etched it. In 2021 we gave it a voice. For Rugby World Cup 2023 in France, we gave it a song.

A trophy with a custom speaker and electronics built in, playing a piece of music written especially for its recipient. One for the Player of the Match in every one of the 48 matches, delivered within minutes of the final whistle.

The challenge

How do you write an original song for all 48 matches, woven with the live commentary, and deliver it on the trophy minutes after full time?
